Looks like @adityapatadia made some necessary updates but also hasn't maintained in a while.

I am now maintaining a fork: https://github.com/cgilly2fast/react-hls

So far I have added:

• React 18 Support
• Get HLS object from component
• And a test suite
• Bug fixes

I am looking into how to expand the video poster functionality. If anyone is still in a need of a fix or feature let me know.
