this could be split into multiple tickets

sha256sums for arch linux
PGP signing for debian repo
deb verifiable builds. ideally users can verify that the deb is derived from the source code in this git repo. a simple approach would be to write a shell script that builds the deb in a docker image and compares the hash to the repo version

dnut added the distribution label
