Please also add:
in settings.gradle

include ':react-native-custom-tabs'
project(':react-native-custom-tabs').projectDir = file('../node_modules/react-native-custom-tabs/android')

when using in react-native code:
import { CustomTabs } from 'react-native-custom-tabs';
