Yev suggests checkboxes for the common cases (he, she, they) to canonicalize how they're input (avoid he/him say), while allowing selecting multiple options and then an Other where you can enter whatever you want.
This would enable more concise presentation of pronouns in the user list, like dots that are blue/red/purple for he/she/they and hovering gives the full description (especially for Other). Should see if there are standard colors for this, or if it's considered stereotypical.
