Spike to design infrastructure to specify exit code when exiting

#37 requested a specific exit for certain types of errors.

But we do not have the infrastructure at all for specifying exit codes.

This feature might affect quite a few parts of the code so we needs to be careful.

So we want to have a spike first to explorer the proper way to add that functionality.
