Currently it can be difficult to generate a snapshot, copy of block_log stride, and copy of a SHiP stride that are all consistent. Often this involves manual truncation of the block_log or exact timing of snapshot to provide a consistent set of "state". This should be changed so that these features all "work together" so a consistent set of files can be easily backed up or used to start a new instance.
