Webpack doesn't generate source maps for *.json files. Stat and parsed sizes may differ significantly because of keys tree-shaking. webpack-bundle-analyzer does it extracting module function from the bundle. It may be a good idea but maybe a better one may be to add support for JSON source maps to Webpack.
