Ground control software like QGroundControl and MissionPlanner and currently widely used open-source autopilot firmware like PX4 and ArduPilot have somewhat established (but sparsely documented) handshake procedures for establishing connections. It is not simply enough to stream Mavlink messages with telemetry in order to see them displayed.
Figure out and add whatever steps are necessary in order to achieve initial connection.
