Currently it is a little unclear which player's turn it is i.e. is defending/attacking player banana joe or vs code....or both depending on the turn?

Perhaps you could 'focus'/highlight the P1 div when it is player 1 (banana joe)'s turn?

Some focus on the CSS here for each icon might work in clarifying which player's turn it is.
