The current design causes a number of pain points that could maybe all be addressed together by a different layout:

We also have some unimplemented features to accommodate:

  • there's nowhere to put Recent activity right now: see Add recent activity page #496
  • old /routes: in addition to browsing entries in collections and adding / removing them (which could happen on the location page) the user should be able to see a list of collections they have and see them all on a map, or (simpler version with favourites) a 'Favourites' would switch to a map flavour where they're all visible

Solution ideas:

  1. Various small bugs and design suggestions for mobile layout #416 Combine filter with settings and convert to overlay drawer?
  2. Searching in the list view sometimes doesn't update locations on list #389 the list could open in a drawer over the map (similarly recent activity etc. )
  3. The top bar from the desktop view does a good job splitting between map, about pages, and account management, if we had an equivalent on mobile we could keep the bottom for map-related toggles?

I've actually just understood that the activity is either global, or for just one selection, and we don't need to have a page for it, and it made me not want to reconsider the layout quite as much. We could instead play with what's in the list tab, see #389 (comment)

Closing for now
