I am using Nodejs version 17.0.1. However, this does not seem to work for craco in the npm scripts

I fixed this by downgrading to NodeJS LTS v16.13.1.
This is a known issue in that release,
webpack/webpack#14532

You are right. @Naushikha
You should downgrade from 17.0.1 to 16.13.1.
