18 with:
div.table plate:nth:child(3) or .table plate:nth:child(3) or div plate:nth:child(3) dont work

17 neither

For 17, you can try:
#fancy>apple, pickle or #fancy>.small, pickle

As for 18,
plate:nth-child(3) seems to work without the div.
You also did a typo, it should be :nth-child() instead of :nth:child()
