This is a pretty out-of-date intro to Form Tools, but it's linked to on the last step of the installation script:
https://docs.formtools.org/tutorials/adding_first_form/

Update it to be clear about the three types of forms: Internal, External & Form Builder and generally rewrite it to make it a better intro.
