This roadmap is not set in stone - we may always decide to defer a problematic feature to a later release, or bring something forward if we are provided with patches. It is supposed to give an overview and a basis for discussions of the future development of Gluon.

2018.2

  • based on OpenWrt 18.06
  • Experimental support for the Babel routing protocol with l3roamd
  • Outdoor Mode
Enable the use of client accessible WiFi on 5 GHz outdoor channels that require DFS/TPC, with the limitation that WiFI mesh will be disabled, because it would require a stable channel configuration.

Future

  • Mesh-independent autoupdater
  • New respondd protocol (based on CoAP?)
  • Support for NetJSON
  • New network setup based on network namespaces (for better separation of mesh and WAN on the nodes)
  • Integration of a new configuration system more suitable for Gluon than UCI (NeoRaider's GSoC project)
