I have previously used this application with the exact same cable, same phone and same MacBook. Today, all of a sudden when I try to connect my phone, it comes up with :

An error occurred while setting up the Phone

I have tried everything that the application has told me to, it still doesn't work.

Same here, I tried Android File Transfer as well, even that doesn't work

Same error on a Pixel 6a on MacOSX Silicon, Ventura 13.3.1. Tried using both the USB-C cable that came with the phone and also a USB-A to C cable connected to my hub. I am able to access the Pixel via Android Studio Device file explorer.

Same here on MacOS 13.2 connecting to a Meta Quest 2.

Everything worked a few weeks ago. Same cable, Mac, etc.

Could you try these steps and see if it solves your problem, #276?
Note: Closing preview app might help. Macos's Preview app is interfering with MTP.

Let me know if it solves your problem

WOW! Can confirm!

Was having the same problem. Quitting Preview.app made the phone connect immediately.

for me doesn't work with or without preview app. is there any way to get logs out of this application? the error message by itself is not particularly informative...

UPD. Was freaking google drive for me...

Closing Preview solved my issue on Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71) with a pixel 6a!
(also closed all syncing apps; google drive, dropbox, surfdrive).
