Chris Borge just published a video about his new 3D printed Modular CNC Controller, which he designed to fit within a 10" rack space.

His approach consists of multiple 1U modular stacking 'blocks', which are tied together with threaded rod, and uses nuts embedded inside the block.

In the video, Chris said he'll publish the parts at some point (he'll link to them in the video description), but he had some incorrect measurements.

I couldn't find Chris on GitHub, so didn't tag him here, but would be fun to see his modular system get added as it includes an interesting feature, the ability to have different widths in a modular fashion, so you could have some half or quarter-rack side-by-side equipment, without a modular system like LabStack mini.

Another incredibly functional addition is a gridfinity grid on top:

I also really love the side mounted skadis board.
Also the color combination looks really sick!!!!

Reminds me of an old black and white Soviet TV that was in my relatives' closet.

Of course, it wasn't as colorful, it was just a wooden case.

But the display brings back those memories.

That is a petty cool use of 3D printing. I was wonder how the vertical elements where locked or keyed together and then the video showed spacers filling that role while keeping the nuts in place. Magic!

I often have mixed feelings about 3D printing, it seems like a lot of time and effort for his mini mill, but this Mini Rack is pure innovation at its best.
