I don't have time to try during KubeCon, but it would be worth trying running img with runsc.
Probably it should work in Docker/Kube without RawAccess patch, although it would be significantly slow as in runrootless (rootless-containers/runrootless#14)

Hmm, looks like it does not support rootless mode

Oh actually it works in rootless mode although it requires unshare -n
