Please add a "Reset timer" button #62
Comments
Please see #48 for my opinion on this =). |
I see it in that closed issue now. My use case is similar to the poster in #48, namely having walked away from a particular puzzle, not "let me start again with what I know but pretend I don't". :-) Also, a somewhat nervous +1 to his assertion this is wonderful and addictive. The former is still true, the latter is actually affecting me these days, and I need to stop at least five hours before going to bed or else I sometimes see pieces (particularly the "l-with-a-diagonal-looking-like-an-arm" one) in waking dreams. |
Confirm: seeing rotating pieces when I close my eyes, confusing ordinary thoughts and conversations with pieces locking into place, etc. 😂 |
The timer pausing when away from the puzzle seems like an adequate middle ground for this issue (as addressed in #48). |
Re-upping here. I moved from Firefox to Safari, and now closing the window on an unfinished puzzle keeps adding time. |
@paulehoffman, sorry you're experiencing issues with the timer. I tried to reproduce the problem in Safari 18.3 on a MacBook but the timer stops correctly for me when I close the window. Could you maybe open a separate bug report with OS/browser details and reproduction steps? I'm going to close this issue because I'm not planning to implement a "Reset timer" button. Should have done this a long time ago =). |
OK, this is weird. It now works fine. I do not know why for the first ~4 games of 15 hex I played, closing the window and reopening didn't pause the timer and I would get elapsed times of like 15 hours. Now it works fine. Thanks for doing this game. It still is one that lets me look at "what is addictive" and "what makes me happy". |
If you walk away from an incomplete puzzle, the "Start over" button will reset the puzzle but not the timer. I'd like to be able to reset both of them for such a case.
