Linguist override not working with /License.*/ folders

My .gitignore at the root of my repository does not allow detection of my /License.*/ folders

Having tried many different matches, I tried to brute force its finding by doing this:

** linguist-detectable

This still does not detect my .cs files which are under the (earlier named) /License.*/ folders.
I did, however find that in the linguist documentation.yml that (^|/)[Ll]icen[cs]e(\.|$) would match these folders.

However the linguist-detectable should override this, right? (according to the overrides.md)

P.S.

I have pushed the .gitattributes file when making changes to it to the repository before checking language detection changes.

What the folders look like with their parent folder:

• License/License.Apple/Program.cs
• License/License.Apple/SubFolder/Class1.cs
• License/License.Tree/Program.cs
• License/License.Road/Program.cs

Current fix is to make it ** -linguist-documentation.
This works, because the /License.*/ folders are marked as documentation by the documentation.yml.

Can expand on the expression so it's more concrete for those specific folders (/License.*/) only.

Discussion can be closed if this is an acceptable fix.
