How to apply for the role of a maintainer?

The goyaml fork of kubernetes contains a lot of useful changes, too.

this library is long dead. I've used it for a bit, and there's tons of very low level bugs. I wouldn't consider this for anything new anymore

I've several times looked around at YAML libraries for Go, and the only one I found that seems to be actively maintained and that doesn't explicitly says it only targets a few specific projecfts is https://github.com/goccy/go-yaml. It seems to have its own list of low level bugs, but at least there's active work on it. (Disclaimer: I haven't tried it out yet, so no idea how good it actually is.)

I work mostly with Kubernetes manifests. I found that package to be helpful
