I haven't checked whether the editor frontend is able to load SVG icons successfully. My guess is on "no" (in 3.x at least), as these images are not imported when they're downloaded diretly from the editor.
The official Godot asset library does not allow SVG icons for assets.

The file has been set not to import, since it's unused.
I have a project using an SVG for its icon that I plan to submit as an asset. Not sure what's the reason SVG files aren't allowed.
