In-place update animations

Thank you for sharing this good piece of work. Been looking for something like this. It is helpful.

One question: How to achieve (either with this package of through some other means) a background highlight animation for an item whenever it is updated.

For example, there are list of items and through some background operation the item's data get updated. In such case, instead of silently updating the item with new data, a highlighting animation (something like changing the background to yellow/red background and then fading it back to the normal color) .

Which event / mechanism to hook and look for ?

Any suggestions / pointers on this would be very helpful.
