The script does not restart ccpd, which leads to an endless cycle of waiting for it to run. Lines:

ubuntu_canon_printer/canon_restart.sh

Lines 12 to 13 in 2084954

echo 'Restarting cups and ccpd'
service cups restart

To these lines you need to add
service ccpd restart
