For a lot of spot check use cases we can just use the Vitalsigns profile :
http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/vitalsigns

It might however be wise to add some extra guidelines to this profile like mapping to LOINC, SNOMED (or both).
When would the custom patient-monitoring profile be used?
