Currently, AI is used to generate tags or to provide a summary to the user. For categorization, it would be nice if assigning bookmarks to lists could be done (semi-)automatically.
Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Hoarder users
Ease of use
Less manual steps to take after saving a bookmark
Better adoption of the lists feature
The lists feature is a manual step, making only the creation of lists manual and the assigning automatic makes it used more.
Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?
Yes, assigning lists manually without the help of AI.
Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?
I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request
Additional context
For the automatic assignment to work correctly, the lists must be created manually. Once a new bookmark is added, the AI should understand the context of the bookmark and the available lists to determine which list it should belong to.
This approach allows users to maintain control over the created lists and manage the level of detail themselves.

The idea in hoarder is that tags are the ones that are automatic, and lists are for manual curation. So hoarder will probably never auto add bookmarks to lists. However, what we're planning to do (once we have embeddings for the bookmarks), is to "suggest" adding bookmarks to certain lists and give the user the option to either accept the suggestion or reject it.
IMO a good compromise would be the concept of "Smart Lists" where you can set criteria such as tags, string matches, etc and the list would be populated with matching items. Best of both worlds IMO in that you can still have static lists but also lists of type "smart list" which gives the user full control over what's in them based on specific criteria.
@bverkron that's exactly the plan (#65). It'll be available in the next release. We can keep this issue though for the "recommending bookmarks for lists" request.
