After using Hydrogen 1.0.2 on Mac High Sierra to create several drum kits from samples, I noted a few items that may be beneficial to consider for future releases to aid in functionality. Thank you for the work and effort that has created such a cool drum pattern editor.
Add a way to select all layers (shortcut keys like CMD + A) for delete operations. Having to select each layer, and then click the Delete Layer button (another shortcut key here would be helpful) is tedious at a minimum.
Add a selection method, such as Shift + Arrow Up/Down, to select more than one layer so that operations can take place on multiple layers. It would be great if I have multiple samples that need to be set at the same velocity to highlight them and set them at the same value.
Dragging the layers left and right to set velocities is very time-consuming when you have many layers for an instrument. Being able to multi-select similar layers and have a pop-up screen to set the low and high velocity values would be easier, require less mouse interaction and allow for precise setting of velocity values.
On the Debug, Show Audio Info screen, show the name of the sample that is currently being played by the audio engine if there is playback. I'd like to see that when I set random sample selections for my layers that the samples are truly playing back randomized.
Add a way to copy an existing instrument in the right click context menu of the kit in the Pattern window. Sure, I can go to the Sound Library and then drag what I want over from another kit, but it would make sense to be able to copy an instrument in the kit I am currently building and insert it as a new instrument. I wanted to compare two different snares, and it would have saved time to copy the one I have in my current kit and then have the ability to clear all layers (see first bullet point) so that I could load new layers with the second snare's samples.
There were times that I would highlight Layer 1, click the Load Layer button and select 16 files and when it returned from the file browse, layer 16 was highlighted in red but none of the samples were showing. I cannot find a way to reproduce this behavior, though.
