Any way to render images from Obsidian's image directory?

I'm trying to make it so I don't have to open Obsidian every time I want to preview my Markdown, but it looks like the plugin isn't detecting my image directory.

I'm doing: vim.g.mkdp_images_path = '/Users/elian/obsidian/Images/ but it's still not showing any of my images, even after changing from the Wikilink style to the regular Markdown style. It does work if I manually put in the whole file path, but isn't the point of the images path so you don't have to do that?
