Hi,
I just want to share my experiences after a successful TPM upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0 . The upgrade had been performed on an HP Elitebook 820 G2 with Bios Version 2020 wir Lubuntu Running. The upgrade of the TPM passed successfull, but the Laptop came not back to life after a reboot. I have a loop in the boot procedure before the bios is displayed. All keyboards light are switched on/off the fan starts up and after 5 seconds all repeats. It is not possible to get into the bios or to start the OS. I guess the system is messed up. Clearing or recovering the Bios with USB Stick is not possible.
don‘t try to switch to TPM 2.0 on this laptop.
Greetings Frank

Hi FrankUlbrich,
Thank you for your feedback. Have you found a solution since this message was posted? I have the same hardware et I try too to go to TPM 2.0.
Hi ocarina,
no, I did not found a solution to get this Elitebook running with TPM 2.0. I did not found a way to disable the Chip or to downgrade, because the Laptop didn’t start. I ordered a TPM Chip with firmware 1.2 in China and removed the TPM v2 chip from the motherboard. I soldered the TPM 1.2 chip on the board. After doing this, the laptop boots up.
I decided not to touch the laptop anymore.
Removing the chip was destructive, because the chip is glued and soldered onto the main board. It was horrible to remove it. I had to destroy the chip to get it off.
