SCI2.1 changed the naming scheme for the resource files.
SCI Companion is able to open (and decompile) the resource files if renamed to their corresponding older scheme names:

  • RESOURCE.MAP --> RESMAP.nnn (there is one per CD, and an additional one to copy to the hard drive)
  • RESOURCE.nnn --> RESSCI.nnn
  • master resource and map: RESSCI.PAT & RESMAP.PAT

Need an example of this. I have Torin's Passage, but it doesn't have master resource and map. And other 2.1 games I have (e.g. SQ6) still use the old naming scheme.

These are the examples I have:

  • Phantasmagoria 1 (incl. demo)
  • Torin (incl. demo)
  • Holye 5 (demo, classic games, children's collection, bridge, solitaire)
  • Police Quest SWAT
  • Gabriel Knight 2 [has PAT files]
  • Shivers (incl. demo)
  • Lighthouse demo [has PAT files]
  • RAMA demo
  • LSL7 demo

You can find the demos at http://scummvm.org/frs/demos/sci/.

It's been a while, but I am upvoting on this feature. It also looks like it could be done with limited effort, considering that with manually renaming a few files, I can open many of the SCI 2.1+ games.
Although, even if I open the game and can see the pictures and scripts list, the scripts don't decompile - possibly due to a change in the format.

You'd think it'd be easy to support this naming scheme. I tried it before and I for one couldn't figure it out.
