I was trying loopy for a small standalone project today and I was wondering if there is a technical reason that there are no PyPI releases since the 2017.2 one. If it is just that nobody has come around to look at it, I might (try to) jump in and help.

No technical reason at all. One minor laziness-based reason is that I gained control of the loopy identifier on pypi, and so I would have to orchestrate the switch-over (so that pip install loo.py would continue to work, change all the links, ...). I promptly put that off for a long while.

But thanks for nudging me. This is all done, and Loopy 2020.2.1 is live at https://pypi.org/project/loopy/.

Great! That was much more (getting rid of the .) and much faster than expected! Thank you!

Is it going to be updated?

Yes, I think we should do that. IIRC, @thilinarmtb would also prefer if a recent snapshot was available via PyPI. (inducer: I'm happy to help in any way)

I'm a bit hesitant to upload a snapshot ATM given the embarrassment of #600 is still ongoing. Alternatively, we could revert #224.

Fair, that one's on me and I can help. I'll post an update if I have any progress on it.

There's an attempt to fix #600 via #816.
