Interesting. I've never seen this before. I've also just tested the plugin with both WP 4.5.3 and trunk and couldn't reproduce this bug. wp_styles() was introduced in WP 4.2.0.

Can you try reactivating Menu Icons with no other plugins active?

My initial report was already with all plugins deactivated.
