Future Makefile ideas

In an effort to get the "fixes" in #79 in, I am going to start putting future "ideas" in this issue... please feel free to contribute ;)

• Use GITDIRTY - Setup something in the dev version to indicate that there are uncommitted changes (see More makefile fixes #79). This may ideally use a timestamp before the build info. Beware of SemVer requirements and precedence
• make help - similar to https://gist.github.com/thomaspoignant/5b72d579bd5f311904d973652180c705 - https://betterprogramming.pub/my-ultimate-makefile-for-golang-projects-fcc8ca20c9bb
• target based build (if no source files have change, don't "compile" again)
• MAKEFLAGS (and other stuff) from https://github.com/thockin/go-build-template/blob/master/Makefile

None of this is critical, and I am sure we all have better things to do with our time, but this "pretty" stuff can make for a much better developer experience, thus making our lives easier, in addition encouraging others to contribute.
