Use 5°c as "off mode" for TRVs which don't support off mode #834

You mean auto-start/stop, I guess ?
No, this is not planned and not reported as a need yet. I'm not sure it is a good idea as this will add more complexity to a now very complex integration. The complexity is the worst enemy of an integration and I want to keep it as simple as possible. Let keep this enhancement as open and see if others people are interested. For now, you are the first one. |

Hi,
I have taken a look at previous posts and cannot find anything about this so apologies if I have missed it.
I would like to utilise the benefit of auto on off mode i.e. temporarily stop sending new target temperatures to the trv which should reduce battery usage (Siterwell TRV displays light up when new target temperature received) and eradicate small periods of heating when room is cooling towards the target temperature (e.g. where internal trv temperature is dropping quickly between regulation periods) which would also improve battery life.
Unfortunately my TRV does not support off mode however similar benefits could be realised by setting the target temperature to say 5°c (or other low number) when the auto on off mode is setting the trv to "off".
Has this already been considered and ruled out or is perhaps the functionality there and I'm simply missing it?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Alex
