Hi there,
I'm using the ISE SMART CONNECT KNX Vaillant adapter to connect my home's KNX-based room heat controls to my ebus-based heatpump controls.
(Yeah, I could have done this via ebusd myself, but the primary goal here was to build a system that is still useful after I leave in case we ever sell this house to a non-nerd.)
I'm also using an ebusd adapter via Home Assistant, just for fun, and want to keep using it to learn more about my installation.
As it turns out, these two devices seem to dislike each other. The ISE adapter would loose the ebus connection, e.g. it would stop sending outside temperature updates. After a reboot of the ISE adapter, the updates would continue for a while, until they don't:
I contacted ISE support and they pointed me to a logfile on my ISE adapter. As it turns out, the ISE adapter log shows several ebus protocol errors per minute. it appears to be an addressing issue. The error log messages go away the moment I turn off the ebusd adapter.
It appears that ebusd and the ISE adapter are using the same address on the ebus - but that's just my initial guess.
Now I already understand that I can choose a different address for my ebusd. However, how do I choose an address? How do I find out which address is free in my installation? Can I just choose one of the free addresses?
Thanks!
