Saved .jpg image does not have preview/view

When saving a .jpg image using Save to Drive, it appears in the drive but has no preview in the drive. Also when opening it, it only shows a download link ('No preview available'), not the image itself.

I have screenshots of this.

I'm also experiencing this issue with PDF files.

PDFs saved directly to Drive appear without a thumbnail/preview, even after opening. The same PDFs uploaded into Drive after being saved to my local disk do have a thumbnail.

Unfortunately this is due to the way that Gmail forces Drive to save the selected file. I've tried bypassing this several different ways but each time I get the same result.

So as of now, I'm afraid I don't really have an answer to this (without rewriting the application to use OAuth instead), but until then, I'll keep you guys posted.
