Is your idea or proposal related to a problem? Please describe.
I tend to cook in bulk, and freeze leftovers for later meals. Keeping track of what's in the freezer using paper and pen is easy, but it's difficult to share or to view remotely. Moreover, food can only be kept for a specific time, and I'd like to have an easy to browse overview of what dishes should be eaten soon.
Describe your idea or proposal
It'd be nice to have a good, shareable "freezer inventory management" system built-in RecipeSage. I realize this is quite a large feature, but I think it would nicely complement RecipeSage's current capabilities:
Through an interface, enter a meal name, number of portions, and how long it will remain edible.
These meals are shown in a list, with the expiration date listed.
The list could be sort-able on time left, so you know what should be eaten "urgently"
Frozen meals can be linked to a recipe and vice versa. This way you don't accidentally cook something twice. :-)
When picking meals for a meal plan, frozen meals can also be shown.
Additional context
I already use RecipeSage quite a lot, so it'd be nice to have this feature in here. :-)
I've looked around for other tools for this purpose, but most of them are (a) single-use and only offer freezer management, (b) are for commercial use (= overkill for homes) or (c) are unmaintained. So I'm relatively sure there's a market for this type of application within RecipeSage.
Thank you for considering this idea, I look forward to your feedback.

Hi there! Thanks for opening an issue and proposing the idea.
I've had a few emails over the years asking about inventory management and I've always deferred to recommending people use a dedicated inventory management platform. I feel like it's a very large problem to solve, and there are so many platforms that already do it well (Grocy, for example), but please feel free to let me know if you have found other solutions lacking.
I would not be opposed to creating an integration with Grocy or another platform if you have a recommendation, but I don't know that I'm prepared to take on making a full inventory management system.
I'm interested in easing into helping with some Open Source projects and am also interested the proposed feature. I also tend to prepare things in bulk - but the items I prepare don't always go into the freezer - some go into the refrigerator. I also prepare "ingredients" in bulk. For example I recently prepared some chili paste from dried chili peppers that I keep on hand as a condiment as well as for use in recipes. What see here is a kind of workflow relationship. I might prepare chili paste in bulk from time to time. This produces X amount of paste. Then that paste is used as ingredient for some Texas Chili that I make in bulk and store portions in the refrigerator. Those portions are then used in meals when I'm planning a meal. Anyway - I'll be reading more about what's proposed, what's there, and try to figure out how to best start helping out.
