This is due to how the I direction is interpreted:

vector objI = transform("object", -I);
If using UV coordinates, we should get the I direction in tangent space:
vector objI = -vector( dot(normalize(dPdu), I), dot(normalize(dPdv), I), dot(normalize(N), I));
I think this change can be applied to at least the LWOctane and VRay versions. (for the VRay version, this works with zUpAxis checked.)
