0) To use tkdiff to diff two versions 824 and 828 for example
> svn diff -r824:828 | egrep '^Index:' | awk '//{print $2}' | perl -lne 'system ( "tkdiff -r 824 -r 828 $_ & " ) '
1) To make a branch:
> svn copy trunk branches/mybranch
2) To see what has happened in the trunk see the branch was made:
> svn log --verbose --stop-on-copy https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/branches/ssdn # shows which svnversion it was branched from
> cd trunk
> svn log --verbose -r XXX:HEAD # where XXX is the svnversion discovered above
3) To merge the branch into the trunk:
> cd trunk
> svn merge https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/trunk \
https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/branches/distributed_metadata \
.
4) Old way to merge a branch that worked horribly. Although I did use this
to merge the trunk into the branch and that worked OK. The above command
is what worked much better. This method below always caused lots of conflicts.
To diff/merge a branch:
> svn log --verbose --stop-on-copy https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/branches/mybranch
The last entry is when the branch was made (e.g. r348)
> cd trunk
> svn up
> svn diff -r 348:HEAD https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/branches/mybranch
> svn merge -r 348:HEAD https://plfs.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plfs/branches/mybranch
