When FMVs are playing the emulator has a high CPU usage. This also occurs when in game play. Game menu and demo's seem to run at a lower CPU usage. Though this is somewhat expected behaviour it is clear that a factor 3-5 is way to much.

Analysis shows that at high CPU usage the average cycles per block is lower than 30 and when the CPU usage is lower the average cycles per block is more than 250.

A rewrite of the compiler is likely needed to solve this issue.
