## Traditionally Deuteronomy 6:13 is cited by Jesus in Matthew 4:10.
getrefs SBLGNT LXX Deuteronomy 6:13
## No result.
lookup LXX Deuteronomy 6:13
lookup SBLGNT Matthew 4:10
## Clearly the word "φοβηθηση" ("you shall fear") is changed to "προσκυνησεις" ("you shall worship").
## This new word is used 5 times in LXX: in Exodus 20:5, Exodus 23:24 and Deuteronomy 5:9 (all of them
## are in a denial form); in Deuteronomy 4:19 there is a possible fuzzy match:
lookup LXX Deuteronomy 4:19
## and finally, in Psalm 81:9 (MT 81:10) there is some combination of all of the words
## used by Jesus:
lookup LXX Psalms 81:9
## In fact, Deuteronomy 10:20 is the same as 6:13:
lookup LXX Deuteronomy 10:20
## It seems plausible that Jesus refers to the denial forms of "προσκυνησεις" because Satan mentions
## this word in Matthew 4:9: "εαν πεσων προσκυνησης μοι" ("if falling down you will worship me").
## And Jesus then points indeed to Deuteronomy 6:13 because this is quite similar to the quoted text:
## it begins with the same words and has grammatically the same structure.
##
## On the other hand, a very strong allusion to the denial forms can be assumed. It seems reasonable
## to identify the first occurrence of the word "προσκυνησεις" in Exodus 20:5 also as a quoted word
## and the surrounding words too.

# Jaccard distance is 0.366667.
## Finally, Jesus' words in Luke 4:8 are literally the same as in Matthew 4:10.
