inotify?

are there any suggestions on getting inotify to work?

i've mounted a smb share using persistentVolumeClaim and when i write a file to the share from somewhere else i see the file pop up in the container but inotify isn't triggered until i touch the file. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot further / if I'm going down the wrong path entirely?

my use case is i'm using paperless-ngx and it is watching a directory (an SMB share mounted using this driver) for new documents to import. I would like to avoid polling the directory if possible!
