[Question] XP runs stand-alone, freeze on loading scenery under AO #527

I removed all traces of AO files from XP and user space, including uninstalling dokan. I restarted the machine, installed dokan, and AO 0.7.2 and restarted. I downloaded the NA scenery pack, and edited scenery_packs.ini. I restarted the machine, launched AO and checked the logs - no obvious problems. I launched XP, used New Flight for the "glass" C-172, at KSOW (Show Low Regional, AZ). and selected Start Flight. No change from previous results. See screen grab. Log.txt, .autoortho.log show no obvious errors. The only way to recover was to power down my laptop - restart no longer works. As far as I can tell, everything claims to be working correctly, but clearly XP is locking up, and holding my laptop hostage into the bargain. |

question
Describe your question
XP 12.1.0rc2 runs on its own, without AO. Start AO with no obvious errors, launch XP, select a new flight in a location included in an AO scenery pack, XP goes to loading scenery and goes to sleep (no activity shown Task Manager). AO spends its time, once running, generating "chunk_missing" messages. The only way out of XP is to reset the machine (end task does nothing).

Screen grabs, logs are included.
To Reproduce
Run AO, select Run.
Launch XP, chose New Flight, select aircraft and starting location inside AO scenery pack.
Click Start flight.
The above applies with fresh installs of AO, and scenery packs.
There are no obvious error messages in XP's log.txt, autoortho.log, or from Windows.
All of the above said, AO did work at one time under XP 12.0.9, but stopped working after I tried to add two freeware airports. Suspecting something in the files for Block Island or Montauk was "poisoning" AO, they were deleted. No change since that point: running XP and AO leaves the apps essentially "navel gazing", and a hard reset is required to recover.
