Custom background equipment

When adding backgrounds from the Player's Handbook, there are often items like "A small knife, a map of the city you grew up in, a pet mouse, a token to remember your parents by..." however when creating backgrounds there's no option to add weapons/armor, not to mention any custom items. Any idea if this will become available in the future?

I'm going to seem like a bot by copy/pasting this but...
Larry doesn't actively maintain orcpub2 or this repo.
A group of us have forked this project and run it live as Dungeon Master's Vault

You can actually add starting weapons/armor to a custom class... but you have to manually edit the file.
This particular feature is actually something I hope to tackle in the upcoming months.
