In the iPhone app (at least) if a newly published story is not upvoted almost immediately (within a day) it will never be seen by anyone and therefore will never get any more upvotes. Likewise for a story that makes the “best of the week” list. The result is that most stories can’t be promoted to higher “best of “ lists because almost nobody ever gets to see them, so they can’t be upvoted.
Suggestion: Have some way to be able to see and upvote randomly chosen stories from the full set of all stories ever submitted (not just the “top ten” or whatever that is shown now). This would allow stories to gradually rise over time, which is almost impossible now unless a story gets a lot of upvotes almost immediately.
