I have made a video on using the Freesurfer volume segmentations in LayNii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5MqN0jGIBU

However, there seems to be interest to using the triangular mesh surfaces rather than the volume segmentation coming from freesurfer. This process might be turned into a LayNii video tutorial (Suggested by @layerfMRI )

there are early cumbersome versions of this.
E.g. scripts 4 and 5 from @kenshukoiso do this.
https://github.com/kenshukoiso/Whole_Brain_Project/tree/main/script

I think this is inspired from an earlier (outdated) workflow here.https://layerfmri.com/2017/11/26/creatingRimFrom_freesurfer/.

The cumbersome part is all the header and orientation management.

Those workflows try to account for kissing sulci.
