Hi leo, I'm glad you tagged me for this proposal. Unfortunately, I'm not programming daily in WinForms. I have an application made using this wonderful project, but, as you already know, we must adapt to the newest frameworks, programming languages, and so on. Edit: I may say that the decision to make this project obsolete was good in my opinion, because as far as I can saw, the PRs are very old, and the issues are not anymore encountered that often. Thanks again for tag. |
To be honest, I also believe that WinForms has been dead for quite some time. It should lean towards relatively newer technologies like WPF, UWP & MAUI. However, many people still actively use WinForms, and transitioning might not be feasible for everyone. It's regrettable that you're unable to focus on this project, but if you wish, I have a library that encompasses this project as well. I haven't made significant changes for a long time, but I can at least allocate time to PR or other important matters. You can also guide people who use or wish to use this project in that direction. |
Hey folks I may be able to help out - I'm currently using this project in an app I wrote for my team at my current workplace (programming is not my job here, but once a programmer...). I'd like to see this kept alive as, at least for the near future, I need to keep using it for VSTO add-ins - (until MS deprecates completely). I'd be happy to do what I can to keep this project alive. |
Hello everyone!
First of all, thank you for using this silly project, it's something I made in a few weeks at my old job and now I can see it's greatly improved, impressive work everyone!
I'm still keeping my opinion that windows forms should be buried in the ground and any new projects should use new technologies (MAUI is looking pretty good 😉)
However, I see that the community still wants to use this and you guys keep on making PRs and opening Issues. I don't have any spare time to even read them, so, as Orapps has retired himself from this project (thanks bud, great job!) I'm now looking for new maintainers.
Please reply to this issue if you're interested.
I see @valimaties is somewhat active in the issue comments, would you be interested on keeping this project alive?
Cheers!
