not sure if the app uses the native wayland backend for wayland users

I think tauri still use x11 even on wayland, would require more investigation

Yep it does (I'm using the appimage package)

What about a flatpak package? (AppImage + wayland doesn't seem possible please see tauri-apps/tauri#11790)

I'm not familiar with flatpak and don't really have the time at the moment unfortunatly, but PR is welcome!
