This describes the Z-Wave device FGK101, manufactured by Fibargroup with the thing type UID of fibaro_fgk101_02_005
.
This version of the device is limited to firmware version 2.5
The device is in the category of Door, defining Door sensors.
The FGK101 supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is unable to participate in the routing of data from other devices.
The FGK101 does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. Refer to the Wakeup Information section below for further information.
The Fibaro Door / Window Sensor is a wireless, battery powered, Z-Wave compatible reed sensor. Each time its two parts, i.e. the sensor's body and a magnet separate, a radio signal is sent. In addition the Fibaro Door / Window Sensor supports one DS18B20 temperature sensor and has one potential free input.
The Fibaro Door / Window Sensor is designed for use with scenes in home automation systems and everywhere else where information related to opening / closing of doors, windows, garage gates, etc. is needed.
- Place the device within direct range of the Z-Wave controller.
- Make sure that Sensor’s cover is closed.
- Find the TMP button located on the underside of the device, which allows for proper inclusion.
- Set the main Z-Wave controller into the learning mode (see main controller’s operating manual).
- Quickly, triple click the TMP button.
- Wait for the adding process to end.
- Successful adding will be confirmed by the Z-Wave controller’s message.
Adding/removing will be confirmed by LED blinking. Fast blinking means that the inclusion process has not been successful.
- Place the device within direct range of the Z-Wave controller.
- Make sure that Sensor’s cover is closed.
- Find the TMP button located on the underside of the device, which allows for proper inclusion.
- Set the main Z-Wave controller into exclusion mode (see main controller’s operating manual).
- Quickly, triple click the TMP button.
- Wait for the exclusion process to end.
- Successful removing will be confirmed by the Z-Wave controller’s message.
The FGK101 does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. The wakeup period can be configured in the user interface - it is advisable not to make this too short as it will impact battery life - a reasonable compromise is 1 hour.
The wakeup period does not impact the devices ability to report events or sensor data. The device can be manually woken with a button press on the device as described below - note that triggering a device to send an event is not the same as a wakeup notification, and this will not allow the controller to communicate with the device.
FIBARO Door/Window Sensor needs to be woken up to receive information about the new configuration from the controller, like parameters and associations.
To wake up the sensor manually triple click the TMP button located underside the casing.

Represents the battery level as a percentage (0-100%). Bindings for things supporting battery level in a different format (e.g. 4 levels) should convert to a percentage to provide a consistent battery level reading.

This channel provides the battery level as a percentage and also reflects the low battery warning state. If the battery state is in low battery warning state, this will read 0%.
Indicates if the carbon dioxide alarm is triggered.

Additional delay after an alarm from input IN1 has ceased. The parameter allows you to specify additional time, after which the input no. 1 alarm is cancelled once its violation has ceased. Values in the range 0 to 65535 may be set.

Parameter for dimming/opening blinds Value of the parameter specifying the forced level of dimming/opening roller blinds when “switch on”/”open” commands are sent to devices from association group no.1. In case of alarm frames an alarm priority is specified.
Default value: 255
Possible parameter settings: (1 – 99) and 255
Value of 255 makes it possible to activate a device. In case of the Dimmer module it means activating the device and setting it to the previously stored condition, e.g. when Dimmer is set to 30%, deactivated and then reactivated using 255 commend, it will be automatically set to the previous condition i.e. 30% Values in the range 1 to 255 may be set.
The manufacturer defined default value is 255

Enable/Disable transmission of frame cancelling alarm Deactivating transmission of the alarm cancelling frame or the control frame deactivating the device (Basic).
It allows for disabling the function of deactivating the device and cancelling alarms for devices associated with IN input.
Available parameter settings:

The parameter cancels alarms only. Information on alarm violation or activation commands for devices from association groups are always sent. The following option values may be configured -:

Sensitivity to temperature changes The maximum acceptable difference between the last reported temperature and the current temperature read from the sensor. If the temperatures differ by the set value or more, a report with the current temperature value is sent to the device assigned to association group no. 3.
Default value: 8 [0.5 °C]
Available parameter settings: 0 – 255 [0 °C to 16 °C] [32 °F – 60.8 °F]
To set an appropriate parameter value use the following formula:
x = delta T x 16 - for Celsius
x = delta T x 80 / 9 - for Fahrenheit
x = parameter value
delta T – maximum acceptable temperature gradient in Celsius or Fahrenheit
If the value is set to 0: - if the wake-up interval is set to 255 seconds, temperature report will be sent according to the interval, - if the wake-up interval is set to over 255, temperature report will be sent each ca. 4 minutes. Values in the range 0 to 255 may be set.

Enabling/Disabling broadcast alarm for IN and TMP Sending an alarm or control frame (for IN input, depending on parameter no.5 value), and TMP button alarm frame. The frame is sent in “broadcast” mode, i.e. to all devices within range - information sent in this mode is not repeated by the mesh network.

Enable/Disable scene functionality The device offers the possibility of sending commands compatible with Command class scene activation. Information is sent to devices assigned to association group no. 3

Controllers such as the Home Center 2 are able to interpret such commands and based on these commands activate scenes, to which specific scene IDs have been assigned. The user may expand the functionality of a button connected to IN input by distinguishing the sequence of it being pushed. For example: double click would trigger the “goodnight” scene and triple click would trigger the “morning” scene. To fully use the possibilities offered by the parameter no.14 it is recommended to use a momentary or a toggle switch (parameter no.3).
Scene ID is determined in the following manner:

Status of DS18B20 sensor The parameter value is automatically sent to the association group III if the connected sensor DS18B20 four times mistakenly read the temperature. In case of Wake Up Interval set for 4000 seconds temperature sensor will be checked every 5 minutes. The following option values may be configured -:

This is a read only parameter.
The wakeup interval sets the period at which the device will listen for messages from the controller. This is required for battery devices that sleep most of the time in order to conserve battery life. The device will wake up at this interval and send a message to the controller to tell it that it can accept messages - after a few seconds, it will go back to sleep if there is no further communications.
This setting is defined in seconds. It is advisable not to set this interval too short or it could impact battery life. A period of 1 hour (3600 seconds) is suitable in most instances.
Note that this setting does not affect the devices ability to send sensor data, or notification events.
This parameter has the configuration ID wakeup_interval
and is of type INTEGER
.
When sleeping devices wake up, they send a notification to a listening device. Normally, this device is the network controller, and normally the controller will set this automatically to its own address. In the event that the network contains multiple controllers, it may be necessary to configure this to a node that is not the main controller. This is an advanced setting and should not be changed without a full understanding of the impact.
This parameter has the configuration ID wakeup_node
and is of type INTEGER
.
Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.
The FGK101 supports 3 association groups.
Group I is assigned to input IN1 (and the magnetic sensor). Sending BASIC SET or ALARM command frames.
Association group 1 supports 5 nodes.
Group II is assigned to TMP button. Once the button is released, ALARM GENERIC frame is sent to associated devices.
Association group 2 supports 5 nodes.
Group III reports on the condition of the device, only one device may be assigned to the group (main controller, by default).
Association group 3 supports 1 node.
