FGT001 - ZWave

FGT001 Thermostatic Valve

This describes the Z-Wave device FGT001, manufactured by Fibargroup with the thing type UID of fibaro_fgt001_00_000.

The device is in the category of Radiator Control, defining Controls on radiators used to heat up rooms.

The FGT001 supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is unable to participate in the routing of data from other devices.

Overview

FIBARO Heat Controller is a remotely controlled thermostatic head to control temperature in the room. It measures the temperature and automatically adjust the heat level. It can be mounted without tools on three types of thermostatic radiator valves. It is also possible to create schedules via app to easily manage temperature throughout the week.
Main features:

  • to be installed on three types of valves: M30 x 1.5, Danfoss RTD-N and Danfoss RA-N,
  • compatible with any Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ Controller,
  • supports Z-Wave network Security Modes: S0 with AES-128 encryption and S2 with PRNG-based encryption,
  • built-in battery recharged through standard micro-USB port,
  • easy installation - no tools required,
  • can use dedicated temperature sensor,
  • supports heating schedules,
  • automatic calibration,
  • anti-freeze function,
  • decalc function,
  • unconstrained rotation spherical knob to set desired temperature.

Inclusion Information

Add the device to the Z-Wave network:

  1. Make sure the device is within the direct range of your Z-Wave controller.
  2. Set the main controller in (security/non-security) add mode.
  3. Use the included key to quickly triple click the button on the thermostatic head.
  4. The LED ring will start blinking white.
  5. If you are adding in S2 authenticated mode, type in the device pin code (underlined part of the public key on the label).
  6. Wait for the adding process to end.
  7. Successful adding will be confirmed by the Z-Wave controller.

Exclusion Information

To remove the device from the Z-Wave network:

  1. Make sure the device is within the direct range of your Z-Wave controller.
  2. Set the main controller into remove mode.
  3. Use the included key to quickly triple click the button on the thermostatic head.
  4. The LED ring will start blinking white.
  5. Wait for the removing process to end.
  6. Successful removing will be confirmed by the Z-Wave controller.

Binary Sensor

Indicates if a sensor has triggered.

The sensor_binary channel is of type sensor_binary and supports the Switch item. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device.

The following state translation is provided for this channel to the Switch item type -:

Sensor (temperature)

Indicates the current temperature.

The sensor_temperature channel is of type sensor_temperature and supports the Number:Temperature item and is in the Temperature category.

Thermostat mode

Sets the thermostat.

The thermostat_mode channel is of type thermostat_mode and supports the Number item and is in the Temperature category. The following state translation is provided for this channel to the Number item type -:

Setpoint (heating)

Sets the thermostat setpoint.

The thermostat_setpoint channel is of type thermostat_setpoint and supports the Number:Temperature item and is in the Heating category.

Alarm (power)

Indicates if a power alarm is triggered.

The alarm_power channel is of type alarm_power and supports the Switch item and is in the Energy category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device.

Alarm (system)

Battery Level

Represents the battery level as a percentage (0-100%). Bindings for things supporting battery level in a different format (e.g. 4 levels) should convert to a percentage to provide a consistent battery level reading.

The system.battery-level channel is of type system.battery-level and supports the Number item and is in the Battery category. This channel provides the battery level as a percentage and also reflects the low battery warning state. If the battery state is in low battery warning state, this will read 0%.

Clock Time Offset

Provides the current time difference for the devices time.

The time_offset channel is of type time_offset and supports the Number item and is in the Time category.

Sets the thermostat.

The thermostat_mode1 channel is of type thermostat_mode and supports the Number item and is in the Temperature category. The following state translation is provided for this channel to the Number item type -:

Device Configuration

The following table provides a summary of the 3 configuration parameters available in the FGT001. Detailed information on each parameter can be found in the sections below.

3 Additional functions status (READ-ONLY) This parameter allows to check statuses of different additional functions.

Parameter 1: Override Schedule duration

Duration of Override Schedule after turning knob This parameter determines duration of Override Schedule after turning the knob while normal schedule is active (set by Schedule CC).

Units = minutes Values in the range 10 to 10000 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 240.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_1_4 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 2: Additional functions

This parameter allows to enable different additional functions of the device. Parameter 2 values may be combined, e.g. 1+8=9 means that Open Window Detector and LED indications when controlling remotely are enabled.

1 (bit 0) - enable Open Window Detector

2 (bit 1) - enable fast Open Window Detector

4 (bit 2) - increase receiver sensitivity (shortens battery life)

8 (bit 3) - enabled LED indications when controlling remotely

16 (bit 4) - protect from setting Full ON and Full OFF mode by turning the knob manually

32 (bit 5) - device mounted in vertical position

64 (bit 6) - moderate regulator behaviour (instead of Rapid)

128 (bit 7) - inverted knob operation

256 (bit 8) - report when heating medium is required

512 (bit 9) - detecting heating system failures Values in the range 0 to 1023 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 1.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_2_4 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 3: Additional functions status (READ-ONLY)

This parameter allows to check statuses of different additional functions. Parameter 3 values may be combined, e.g. 1+2=3 means optional sensor works properly and open window detection was triggered.

1 (bit 0) - optional temperature sensor connected and operational

2 (bit 1) - open window detected

4 (bit 2) - provide heat in order to maintain set temperature

8 (bit 3) - malfunctioning heating system (cannot reach set temperature) Values in the range 0 to 15 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 0.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_3_4 and is of type INTEGER. This is a read only parameter.

Association Groups

Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.

The FGT001 supports 1 association group.

Group 1: Lifeline

The Lifeline association group reports device status to a hub and is not designed to control other devices directly. When using the Lineline group with a hub, in most cases, only the lifeline group will need to be configured and normally the hub will perform this automatically during the device initialisation. Lifeline Z-Wave Plus Lifeline association group that reports the device status and allows for assigning single device only (main controller by default)

Association group 1 supports 5 nodes.
