TZ65D Dual Paddle Wall Dimmer

This describes the Z-Wave device TZ65D, manufactured by TKB Home with the thing type UID of tkb_tz65d_00_000.

The device is in the category of Wall Switch, defining Any device attached to the wall that controls a binary status of something, for ex. a light switch.

The TZ65D supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is also able to participate in the routing of data between other devices in the mesh network.

Overview

The TZ65D wall mounted 3-way dimmer switch is a component of the lighting control system.This wall mounted dimmer switch is designed to work with other Z-Wave enabled devices. Z-Wave nodes of other types can be added to the system and will also act as repeaters if they support this function of repeating the signal received to other modules in the system.As part of a Z-Wave network, the TZ65D will also act as a wireless repeater to insure that commands intended for another device in the network are received. This is useful when the device would otherwise be out of the radio range of the wireless controller.   

Inclusion Information

Including to the network (must be installed in its permanent location, not on test bench)

  2. Tap either the top or bottom of the switch once.

General Usage Information

BASIC OPERATION (Local control)
The left switch on the TZ65D allows the user to:

  • Turn ON or OFF the attached load.
  • Include or exclude the module from the Z-Wave system.
  • Control other Z-Wave enabled devices.(one “associated” group of 5 each-Groups 1)

The right switch on the TZ65D allows the user to:

  • Control other Z-WAVE enable devices (two “associated” group of 5 each-Groups 1)

Also, when a controller prompts you to “Send Node ID” or to “Press Button on Unit”, quickly tap the switch ON or OFF once to satisfy those instructions.

  • Tapping top of left switch turns the load attached ON.
  • Tapping bottom of left switch turns the load attached OFF
  • Pressing and holding the left switch will allow dimming and brightening the attached load or the other Z-Wave dimmers if associated. Same for the right switch.

Caution: When dimmed are at the lowest setting, even though the load looks like its off, it still has power. Tap bottom of switch to turn off completely. It is best to turn off the power at the circuit breaker to service the load.
Upon restoration of power after a power loss, the TZ65D returns to previous known state. LED IndicationThe LED on the TZ65D will turn on when the load attached is off, to act as a night light. However, the LED can be user configured to turn on when the load attached is on. The TZ65D will flicker its LED when it is transmitting to any of the 4 groups. This can be changed if desired. See “LED transmission indication”.  

ADVANCED OPERATION

  • The TZ65D supports the ALL ON/ALL OFF commands.

Dimmer

The brightness channel allows to control the brightness of a light. It is also possible to switch the light on and off.

The switch_dimmer channel is of type switch_dimmer and supports the Dimmer item and is in the DimmableLight category.

Device Configuration

The following table provides a summary of the 9 configuration parameters available in the TZ65D. Detailed information on each parameter can be found in the sections below.

Parameter 1: Ignore start level

Ignore start level when transmitting a dim command to the dimmer

The following option values may be configured -:

The manufacturer defined default value is 1 (Don't ignore).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_1_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 2: Suspend Group 4

Suspend Group 4 Setting this parameter will disable transmitting commands to devices in association group 4 The following option values may be configured -:

1 Disable transmitting to group 4

The manufacturer defined default value is 0 (Transmit to group 4).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_2_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 3: Blue LED light Behavior

Defines the behavior of the blue LED. Defines the behavior of the blue LED. Default is Night Light mode where LED is on when switch is off. The following option values may be configured -:

The manufacturer defined default value is 0 (Led on when switch on).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_3_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 4: Invert Switch

To change the top of the switch to off and the botton to on

The manufacturer defined default value is 0 (ON on top).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_4_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 14: Enable Shade Control Group 2

Enable Shade Control Group 2 Enable the control of shade devices in association group 2 when this option is activated. The following option values may be configured -:

Parameter 15: Enable Shade Control Group 3

Enable Shade Control Group 3 Enable the control of shade devices in association group 3 when this option is activated. The following option values may be configured -:

The manufacturer defined default value is 0 (Inactive).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_15_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 19: Blue LED light behavior on transmission

Defines the behavior of the blue LED when transmission of data

The following option values may be configured -:

0 LED does not blinks on activity
1 LED blinks on activity all the time
2 LED blinks on activity 1 second

The manufacturer defined default value is 2 (LED blinks on activity 1 second).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_19_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 20: Poll Group 2 Interval (minutes)

Polling Interval in minutes (default 2)

Values in the range 1 to 255 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 2.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_20_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 22: Poll Group 2

Should Group 2 be pulled? Defines if the device will poll association Group 2 at the interval defined in parameter 20. The following option values may be configured -:

1 Enabled

The manufacturer defined default value is 1 (Enabled).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_22_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Switch All Mode

Set the mode for the switch when receiving SWITCH ALL commands.

The following option values may be configured -:

1 Include in All On group
2 Include in All Off group
255 Include in All On and All Off groups

This parameter has the configuration ID switchall_mode and is of type INTEGER.

Association Groups

Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.

The TZ65D supports 4 association groups.

Group 1: Group 1

Association group 1 supports 5 nodes.

Group 2: Group 2

Association group 2 supports 5 nodes.

Group 3: Group 3

Association group 3 supports 5 nodes.

Group 4: Group 4

Association group 4 supports 5 nodes.
